Favorite African animal: This is actually a hard question. I have two: elephants and lions (but this is partially due to the Lion King. It is my all time favorite movie)

Phrase or Bible verse that has been encouraging this last month: 2 Timothy 1:9 "He has saved us and called us to a holy life-- not because of anything we have done but because of His own purpose and grace." 

This verse has been a great reminder to me that there is nothing I have done, can do, or will do that can take God's love from my life. My faith has nothing to do with my actions, but instead all to do with God's loving grace and mercy. Being able to go abroad to Zambia this semester has nothing to do with me, and has all to do with God. God's plans sometimes does not look like our own, but His purpose for our lives is always much greater than anything we could even fathom by ourselves. I remember that lesson each time I read this verse, and I pray I will trust and follow God where ever He may take me.
